Tips on How to Show More Gratitude as a Grandparent

11/19/2018

While we all like the bounty of food that is sprung upon our tables on Thanksgiving Day, this year take an action back and truly admire what you are grateful for. Here are a couple of ways on how to show more gratitude as a grandparent:

1. Make a gratitude pumpkin

Ask your kids and grandkids to compose what they are pleased for on the pumpkin. Unwind and discuss everyone's thoughts.

2. Write a letter

You might be telling to yourself, "Who composes a letter nowadays with email and text around," but in fact writing a letter is so cool and a fantastic approach to show someone your gratitude. Letters are exceptionally personal given that as soon as you start writing, the words begin flowing from your heart right on to the page, making your message really heartfelt.

3. Make a brief video

The majority of us have phones with what we call the "selfie camera" these days, so merely press record and talk as if your loved one is right in the room with you. Short videos are also nice to send out to people you have not seen or talked with in person for a while because of the truth that there's definitely nothing like seeing the face and hearing the voice of somebody you adore and miss! Keep things simple, emotionally real, and short (particularly given that text/email will restrict the length of time your videos can be to send them.

4. Call him/her

There is no better way to inform somebody that you are grateful for him or her than by telling them! Despite the truth that many people might be loaded up with Thanksgiving Day preparations, a fast phone call can still make their day without using up too much time. And, if they are busy, a voicemail of you talking about your thankfulness would be a great surprise for them to discover when they do have a moment to check their phone.

Another variation on this, thanks to innovation, is FaceTime (or other video chat applications like Skype, etc.). While this option does tend to be more of a time-consumer, you and your loved one on the other end can control how long the call is.
